"From the megacity of Tokyo to the magic of the far north" - this is how Bochum-based travel and nature photographer Stefan Schütter sums up his experiences in Japan. In his presentation, he first takes the audience to the capital Tokyo. A brief insight into life in the modern metropolis is followed by an excursion to Nikko with its famous temples, where the old Japan is still omnipresent. A visit to the snow monkeys bathing in thermal water at the foot of the Japanese Alps gives a first impression of winter.
Then it's back to Tokyo on the Shinkansen high-speed train and on to the wintry north of Japan, to Hokkaido. The second largest of the four main islands is also the least populated. As a result, there is plenty of space for nature on an area the size of Austria. The elegant Manchurian cranes mating in the snowy Kushiro swamps, while numerous whooper swans spend the winter on Lake Kussharo and the impressive giant sea eagles can be seen on the coasts of the Shiretoko peninsula. Back in the big city, the world-famous Sapporo Snow Festival forms the impressive conclusion to this varied journey.
The 90-minute multivision show reports on all these encounters, with impressive photos, atmospheric music and exciting stories.
