Wladimir Kaminer is still an integral part of the German media landscape. Whether on the big screen, on the bookshelf or on television - the author can be seen regularly on stages all over the country. With his mixture of sharp-witted humor and social commentary, he never fails to delight his audience. So it's no wonder that his books such as "Russian Disco" and "Military Music" have sold millions of copies.
Born in Moscow in 1967, Kaminer began his career as a sound engineer before studying dramaturgy at the Moscow Theater Institute. Shortly before German reunification, he was granted humanitarian asylum in the GDR. He then regularly presented his texts in the artists' pub "Kaffee Burger" as part of the "Reformbühne Heim & Welt". His big breakthrough came with the short story collection "Russendisko", which was made into a film twelve years later, directed by Matthias Schweighöfer.
In his private life, Kaminer is Russian, but professionally he writes in German and mainly gives readings and lectures. Thanks to his unmistakable accent and trenchant humor, he provides hours of entertainment live - an experience not to be missed.
