On Wednesdays and Fridays, 15 traders open at the weekly market on Jacob-Winter-Platz in Prohlis. A butcher, a fishmonger and two bakeries offer fresh regional food for sale. There is fruit and vegetables, eggs and pasta. A chicken grill is on site and there are also Asian specialties. Two local nurseries sell their plants. Cornelia Münch from Gartenbau Kießlich says: "We produce our vegetable plants such as tomatoes and lettuce according to the guidelines of integrated cultivation - observing crop rotations, selecting varieties adapted to the location, using cultivation techniques that protect the soil and fertilizing as needed. We use a combination of different plant protection measures. These are physical, biological and - after careful consideration - chemical plant protection. Plant protection is intended to maintain the natural balance of the plant population."
