Living room concert

Goethe regularly organizes small living room concerts. We want to give artists a stage, enliven the space and the neighborhood and create space for nice encounters and evenings together. In this way, Die Goethe should also be perceived as a place where art and culture have their place.

Now we are particularly pleased to be able to give Ayşe Deniz Birdal a stage.

Ayşe Deniz Birdal: music as a narrative

For Ayşe Deniz Birdal, music is a narrative - a connection between cultures, the past and the future. As a cellist and composer, she explores the boundaries of her instrument and her voice by combining classical, contemporary and improvised music with elements from her homeland.

Her aim is to give her music an interdisciplinary artistic identity that encompasses cello playing, composition, singing and poetry. She composes, sings and often uses her own poetry in her works. The style of her compositions crosses genres and combines contemporary classical music, Turkish folk music, improvisation, experimental, spiritual and poetic elements.

With the artistic identity she is working on, she wants to build bridges between genres and cultures, express her identity as a human being and a woman - an identity shaped by her migration from Turkey to Europe to pursue an artistic career - and narrate her experiences through life and cultures.
