In the organizer's words:

The Wohnzimmerslam is the coziest poetry slam in the entire Ruhr region - that's for sure!

This series of events has been taking place for over ten years, and in Bochum it expanded last year into the beautiful event room of "I am Love", probably the most beautiful ice cream parlor in the whole of Bochum. Ice cream and poetry? That tastes good!

As always, the poets' self-written texts must not exceed the time limit of what feels like six minutes and must be performed without props. The jury is selected from the audience each evening and is allowed to decide whose words have penetrated the hearts, whose jokes have made the room tremble and whose rhymes and metaphors can even compete with the established poets from German lessons. The winner gets to take home victory, fame and amore!

Because there are no thematic guidelines for the texts, every slam is a grab bag. It can be personal, funny, political, lyrical, absurd or weird - but always in a good way.

The event is moderated with authenticity, jokes and profundity by Kim Catrin from our team! It is important to us to create our events as safer spaces. Discrimination of any kind has no place here. We are always happy to receive feedback and criticism to help us develop further and are available for you on site! Come as you are: loud, covered up, a little shy, alone or with people, queer or not queer, great and wonderful - however you feel comfortable. We are looking forward to a feel-good atmosphere and an audience that is simply in the mood for culture.
