PARTICIPATION The workshop is exclusively for migrant women. If you would like to participate, please register at workshop@savvy-contemporary.com.

With the help of movement, color, collages, poetic texts and projected images, people who define themselves as migrants or are socially read as such will use the space of SAVVY to experiment. A starting point for the workshop is to reflect on professions, class and other aspects such as age, health status, migration status, racialization, etc. from a gender perspective. We will read fragments of texts, for example by the philosopher and activist Silvia Federici, together in depth. The workshop will be led by visual artist, producer, curator and political education consultant Yili Rojas and Lorena Valdenegro, actress, theater director, producer and dancer - both living in Berlin with a migration background.

DAS FREIE WERKSTATT PRINZIP has been organizing interdisciplinary art workshops with children and young people since 2019. The aim is to give more young people in Berlin access to spaces for artistic expression and to learn about art as a tool for self-empowerment and encounters. At the same time, the project aims to encourage participants to reflect on the topics of inclusion and diversity through their own actions.

LORENA VALDENEGRO is a director, dancer, actress in physical theater and theater educator. After graduating from the Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, she continued her training as a dancer at the Academia de Danza Fantasía in Valdivia and at DANCEWORKS in Berlin. She completed a master's degree in theater education at the Volkshochschule Otto Suhr in Neukölln. In 2016, she founded the AQUItheater Berlin, a research laboratory through the body and biography.

YILI ROJAS is an artist, cultural worker, curator and speaker in political education with a focus on empowerment for migrant women. She works at the intersection of art, community and politics, developing and implementing projects on empowerment through artistic processes, such as printmaking, as in the project Women Make Print, in Berlin and Matriz in Northeast Brazil. Coming from a fine arts background, she earned a Master's degree in Visual Poetics at the University of São Paulo and another Master's degree in Art in Context at the UdK in Berlin. However, she considers her real school to be the social movements in Brazil and her relationships with migrant communities in Berlin. She currently coordinates the educational program frauen.grafik.politik.

The workshop is part of our LABO*R project, which is part of the 15-month TRANSITIONS program and is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
