n the unique ambience of Circus Schnick-Schnack, linguistic artistry and circus flair come together. Every two months, our Poetry Slam Wort-Manege in Herne presents the crème de la crème of the German-speaking slam scene: four of the country's best poets enchant the audience with their self-written texts.

Between poetry and prose, between humor and profundity, there is guaranteed to be no dry eye in the house. The Wort-Manege Poetry Slam is more than just a classic poetry competition: it is a meeting place for all those who love language and enjoy special live culture.

The special thing about this poetry slam is the atmosphere: Circus Schnick-Schnack offers a stage unlike any other in NRW. Between the circus ring, glittering lights and circus magic, a space is created in which words come to life and every performance has a special effect.

In addition to the performing poets , the audience also plays a decisive role. They decide who takes home the victory in the end, and it is precisely this direct exchange that makes the evening so lively. Whether regular slam visitors or newcomers, this event offers a mixture of humor, depth, entertainment and surprising moments.

As a non-profit district center, all proceeds go back into our cultural and educational work.

When Dilara Yüksek (28) entered the world of poetry slams a few years ago, she quickly made the stage her home. After just two appearances, the native of northern Germany was nominated for the Lower Saxony-Bremen championships in Oldenburg at the age of 19 and came third at the U20 state championships in Celle a year later. She has always been an eloquent, humorous young woman with moving and intelligent poetry and an eloquent charm. In 2024, the Münster native was crowned state champion for North Rhine-Westphalia.

Malte Küppers (*1988 in Viersen) lives, writes and works in Duisburg. But that's not a bad thing. He packs his daily impressions of the Ruhr region into his comedy bits and texts, which have already taken him to the big stages all over the country. With a dose of humor, a critical eye and a good pinch of nonsense, the trained social worker and qualified de-escalation and anti-racism trainer describes his environment and thoughts to send the audience home with a broad smile. After participating in several anthologies, the winner of the Vestische Literatureule 2020 and winner of the Uwe Kaschinski Kleinstkuh-Ehrenpreis 2021 also published his first book with Lektora-Verlag under the title "Wenn zwei sich streiten, kommt ein Dritter dazu". He has also been on the successful podcast "Ich kann nicht gut mit Menschen" together with Jule Weber since 2022 and on the podcast "Brennpunkt" with Abdul Chahin and Burak Yilmaz since 2024.

I'm Britta Kah and I do something with words. I've been writing poems and stories since I was at school, I love language and everything you can do with it. In 2022, I finally made it onto the stage with my texts.
Since then, I've regularly taken part in poetry slams in NRW and beyond, winning the Lippstadt, Mönchengladbach and Dortmund city championships twice and qualifying for the NRW state championships several times. Immediately after my stage debut, I started writing for all kinds of formats and taking part in various events with spoken word contributions. Her texts come quietly but hit hard. Instead of shouting, she whispers her way into people's heads - with a feeling for language, depth and a narrative style that you can't just tick off. Best of all, she does it in such a likeable way that you want to book her for the next family celebration (but unfortunately she doesn't). She also came 3rd at the NRW Poetry Slam Championships in 2025.
