WoW Science Slam #12

In the organizer's words:

Infotainment as its best! - The competition for the golden light bulb

Science Slam shows what knowledge creates. At the Science Slam, scientists bring the latest results from their laboratories, field research and back of their heads and present them live and entertainingly on stage. At the interface between knowledge and entertainment, it's all about comprehensibility, passion and the aha effect.

The aim is to present your own topic in an informative, understandable and entertaining way in twelve minutes. In contrast to the poetry slam, a wide variety of aids such as PowerPoint presentations and even live experiments are the order of the day, as anything that fits on stage is allowed. The presentation that best combines all of this is awarded the Golden Light Bulb at the end of the evening. The winner is decided solely by the audience.

The show will be hosted by WoW Slam founder and presenter Marian Heuser. The Science Slam format developed in Germany in 2006 from the Poetry Slam, a competition for texts and poetry of all kinds, which is also held as an entertaining competition in front of an audience (see WoW Poetry Slam). For the Science Slam, five scientists leave their ivory towers to show the audience what creates knowledge in an entertaining yet educational way.

The science competition is organized by Kulturhaus Lüdenscheid, in cooperation with WoW Slam and with the kind support of GLS Bank.
