Yalla Dabka // Kurs für Anfänger*innen

In the organizer's words:

Dabke is a traditional folk dance from Palestine, Lebanon and other regions of the eastern Mediterranean.
It is danced in a group - with powerful stomping and rhythmic jumping.

The movements are coordinated and create a strong connection between the participants, the music and the cultural heritage - this strengthens the sense of community. Dabke promotes trust, dialog and belonging, breaks down prejudices and strengthens psychological security. It brings neighbors together and is easily accessible for all age groups thanks to its clear step structures.

YallaDabka was founded in Berlin in 2017 by Ihab Al-Laweeh, a Palestinian-German dabke coach and social entrepreneur. Since then, he has been bringing the art and culture of Palestinian dabke to various communities in Europe, Germany and Morocco.

Since 2022, YallaDabka has also been active in Hamburg, bringing this artistic and cultural experience to life locally. The trainers in Hamburg are Sara and Ihab Al-Laweeh, both based in Hamburg.
