In the organizer's words:

When Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica with full force at the end of October, it left a trail of devastation in its wake: over 30,000 people lost their homes, entire regions are still under water, hundreds of thousands are without electricity and important infrastructure such as roads, schools and hospitals were severely damaged. The southwest in particular - such as the St. Elizabeth region - is still struggling with the dramatic consequences.

In addition to the destroyed houses, there is asecond, more silent danger: contaminated water. The massive flooding has damaged drinking water systems; diseases such as cholera, leptospirosis,diarrhea and dengue are threatening the population. Local aid organizations are working tirelessly, but in many places they are reaching their limits.

Every form of support counts now.

That's why Hamburg's TALAWAH and NORII have joined forces with representatives of the hip hop, R'n'B, dancehall and Afrobeats scenes to mobilize support: On December 5, they invite you to the JamaicaHurricane Fundraiser Party at YOTO - a night where community and culture stand together to get help on the way.

All participating artists will waive their fees completely and donate them directly to the "Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund" of the Jamaican organization Food For The Poor, which has been active on site for years and is currently providing vital emergency aid - from emergency shelters to food and drinking water to medical measures. Donation boxes will also be available in the club itself to collect further support.

The night's line-up - TALAWAH, BILLY BAUNZ, NORII, CHRIS ICON, RICA STRONG - reflects the diversity of a scene that not only stands for music, but also for cohesion, international culture and the ability to reach and move people.

Come along, dance with us, show solidarity - and help to alleviate the suffering in Jamaica and provide urgently needed aid.
