You Are The Film
Who hasn’t felt like they’re in the wrong movie? Madoka feels exactly the same way: The playwright is sitting in a movie theater watching a film about the musician Kazuma—who is sitting in a movie theater watching a film about Madoka—who is sitting in a movie theater watching a film about Kazuma. In disbelief, they stare at each other across the screen. How is this possible? What’s happening right now? But then they start talking to each other and changing the official plot. The story gets more and more tangled and increasingly fantastical.
Multiverse master Makoto Ueda, following his screenplays for *BEYOND THE INFINITE TWO MINUTES* and *RIVER*, directs *YOU ARE THE FILM* for the first time. Once again, he outdoes himself with a collection of whimsical ideas in which elements from different galaxies intermingle and the space-time continuum dissolves more and more.
