New female talents/ColLAB Cologne @ ACHT BRÜCKEN
In addition to brand new compositions, there are two established ones: The first is by Karen Keyhani, an Iranian whose work explores points of contact between the traditional music of his homeland and the western avant-garde. In the northern Iranian dialect, "Dârvag" is the name of a type of frog that begins to sing just before the rain starts. In the poem on which the work is based, they represent the promise of freedom and life. Sara Glojnarić, a Croatian living in Germany, deals with pop music and the nostalgia it can trigger in us: 20 drum intros from famous rock songs of the 1980s and 1990s served as the source material for her piece "Artefacts #2".
