Z*F*E*X: Danceable improvisations from broken beat to funk, jazz and psychedelic grooves to disco.

Influenced by club culture and transcendent psychedelic experiences, Z*F*E*X bring an extended DJ set to the stage as a band. A continuous odyssey of sound where synthesizers intertwine with flutes, the raw jazz drums evoke the energy of classic broken beat records and the music sounds like it is answering the call of nature.

Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange is the project of Ziggy Zeitgeist, known to many as the drummer of Australian neo-soul collective 30/70, with whom he has toured and recorded extensively. Ziggy has received acclaim from across the jazz and dance scene, including Gilles Peterson, Kamaal Williams, Byron the Aquarius and Alexander Nut. With his four-piece band ZEFX, he now transfers the energy of a never-ending rave to a fascinating live setting between broken beat, psychedelic dub grooves and excursions into disco and funk.

Ziggy grew up in Australia, at a time when there was no serious club culture in sight. The playground of Australian electronic music culture was the "bush doofs", raves in the outback, in remote places in the open air: "That's our electronic music culture. It's about exploring the spectrum of consciousness and connecting with ourselves, each other and the land."
