ZEITGEISTER – Von goldenen Fäden und anderen Spinnereien

In the organizer's words:

The ensemble Happy And Productions presents the premiere of its improv format ZEITGEISTER - Von goldenen Fäden und anderen Spinnereien in the rooftop theater of Haus Steinstraße. A completely improvised modern fairy tale will be performed, inspired by the wishes and personal "good intentions" of the audience to mark the end of the year.

Archetypes and recurring narratives

The stories that bind us together as humanity have been told and retold for thousands of years. In the dancing glow of the campfire, as an act of community, we listen spellbound to the songs, fairy tales and myths. We meet heroes and heroines, learn about their suffering and longings and hear about their quest for love, power and happiness. Their stories entwine themselves around us again and again, like the constant thread of fate. Past, present, future: we join the eternal cycle and at the same time weave new stories of our own that need to be heard, remembered and told.

Goddesses of fate weave their thread

Inspired by the magical atmosphere of the campfire, three improvisers and a musician now take to the stage, where they add a new layer to the stories of the past with their own means - music, body, voice and self-made masks: The game. Based on the figures of the three Moirs - the goddesses of fate, guardians of the past, present and future - and a wish for the future from the audience, a fairytale-like story is spun out. A thread of fate, the common thread of a narrative, is woven, questioned, torn open and woven anew. Who is speaking? For whom? And what remains when we turn the old myths upside down? Subtly interwoven with musical motifs and soundscapes by Malo Moray, the everyday world and the other world come together.

Feminist view

In addition to mythical creatures and magical symbols, the players Anne Buntemann, Verena Ewald, Franziska Klamm and Eva-Maria Schneider have focused primarily on the relevance of traditional narrative patterns and archetypes. Recognizing these, breaking them up and looking at them anew from a female-emancipatory perspective offers material for countless untold stories. This multitude of possibilities is mastered by the art of improvisation, which allows the three players to pick out the one narrative thread at the right moment that they want to continue spinning that evening.
