Opening: July 4, 2026, 6:00 p.m.
Frizzgalerie, Friedrichstraße 23a, 10969 Berlin
“Zinédine Zitrõn” is the title of Tammo Trutz Boje Winkler’s new exhibition.
Exactly twenty years after the legendary headbutt in the World Cup final in Berlin, Winkler explores this knockout moment at the Frizzgalerie—and makes the creative process visible through a painting nearly two meters tall, to which he has repeatedly made changes and, in some cases, even inflicted damage over the course of more than ten years, now made visible.
The creation of the painting—and the artist’s engagement with this gesture, which he has never forgotten—were documented by the artist and are now brought together in an exhibition featuring various images, sketches, and individual text fragments.
In keeping with the exhibition title, a whole host of so-called “lemon flowers” are also on display at the Frizzgalerie. “I’d like to throw a huge party with as many friends as possible this evening, and of course that calls for flowers!” says Winkler, and anyone familiar with “his” flowers knows that these, too, are hardly fleeting.
“Zinédine Zitrõn” marks a milestone for the painter, actor, and set designer Tammo Trutz Boje Winkler—who grew up in an artistic household (his father is the sculptor Wigand Witting, his mother the actress Angela Winkler)—also marks the beginning of a new artistic phase. After nearly thirty years in Berlin, Winkler is moving his studio to Brittany, France, this summer.
Accompanying the exhibition, a separate room will feature around twenty additional works from various phases of the artist’s career, which will be available for purchase that evening. The studio prices in effect to date will apply for this event.
An exclusive preview of the current exhibition will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
