LECTURE & DISCUSSION as part of the International Weeks against Racism
A look at the example of RAA Leipzig e.V.
Seraphine Herchenhan, Master's graduate in the field of diversity-oriented social sciences
The lecture will shed light on the socio-political circumstances of the early 1990s that led to the establishment of the RAA (Regional Office for Foreigners' Issues) in Leipzig. Based on historical analyses and interviews with experts, the lecture will show how Leipzig's civil society reacted to right-wing violence and discrimination. The research results illustrate the importance of organizations such as RAA Leipzig e.V. for the development of anti-racist structures in a time of social upheaval.
