Kurt Dörnemann wrote the script for Kortum's Jobsiade in 1965. The occasion was the opening of the Ruhr University. The experience of the premiere at the Graf-Engelbert School led to a shortening and the production of a tape with dialog and music from which this film was made in 1995.
At the beginning of the film, Dörnemann explains how the puppet show came about.
