In the organizer's words:

To mark the 30th anniversary of Depot e.V., SweetSixteen Kino is showing a film from the founding year 1995 on the second Friday of every month.

Depot e.V. was founded as an association 30 years ago. Originating from the search for suitable spaces and opportunities to work artistically and creatively, the association came across the abandoned tram depot in Immermannstraße. Driven by unbridled passion and a thirst for action, a large circle of users and supporters quickly came together. Workshops, studios and event rooms were created with a great deal of personal effort. In 2001, after a lengthy renovation phase, the depot as you know it today was opened. In the meantime, more than 40 users from different areas of the art and culture industry are based and working at the depot.

The sweetSixteen cinema joined a little later, but took the Depot anniversary as an opportunity to take a look back at film history. Which films were shown in the arthouse cinemas in 1995, which may have become classics or cult films and which ones we particularly liked. The result is a small film series with what we consider to be particularly beautiful, important and formative films from 1995.

Every second Friday at 19:00, we cordially invite you to join us on this journey into the past and watch favorite films that have not been seen for a long time (or perhaps never before).

THE FILM

Winter Sleepers

Shortly after Christmas, five people all return home to a snow-covered winter resort near Berchtesgaden in the mountains. How these five people are connected, who has what relationship to whom, only becomes clear over time. Ski instructor Marco (Heino Ferch) moves in with his girlfriend, translator Rebecca (Floriane Daniel), in the villa of Rebecca's friend and nurse Laura (Marie-Lou Sellem), who has inherited the villa. He leaves his car and the key open. Laura, on the other hand, loves the cinema projectionist René (Ulrich Matthes), whose hobby is capturing situations with a Lomo camera. Drunk, he arrives at the villa, sees the chic Alfa Romeo, gets in and drives off. The fifth member of the group is mountain farmer Theo (Josef Bierbichler), who loses his young daughter in an accident.
