Zweites Kinderkonzert: Peter und der Wolf

In the organizer's words:

One morning, Peter opens the garden gate to a cheerful string melody and goes out into the beautiful meadow. The flute chirps like the funny little bird, the oboe quacks like the clumsy duck, the clarinet comes along on paws as gentle as the cat and finally, with the horns, a big gray wolf emerges from the forest and devours the duck alive. The grandfather, who has a voice as cozy as the bassoon, had warned Peter urgently. When two hunters appear, "shooting" with the percussion instrument, the story seems to end badly for the wolf. But Peter understands the language of his friends, the animals, and with the help of the cat and the bird, decides to save the dangerous but also impressive wolf from being shot.
In a scenic version by Katharina Molitor, Peter and the Wolf, one of the most beautiful works for children, comes to the big stage of the Hanover State Opera. In his symphonic fairy tale composed in 1936, Sergei Prokofiev not only tells a story full of humor and magic about animals and people, but also introduces the instruments of the orchestra with his enchanting music.
