In the organizer's words:

He was non-conformist and part of the Prenzlauer Berg subculture: Bert Papenfuß (1956-2023) - poet, musician, artist and pub owner. His close contacts with the art scene led to the creation of special book projects from the 1980s onwards, mostly small editions that have survived in his private library. These artist's books form a unique symbiosis of text and image and represent an independent, varied art form.

Bert Papenfuß would have been 70 years old on January 11, 2026. A presentation followed by a guided tour of the stacks will provide exclusive insights into the collection of artists' books and commemorate Papenfuß, the "language player".
