Aidshilfe was founded in 1990 with the aim of supporting the public health and welfare systems in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Today, the Halle AIDS service organization sees itself as an agency for sexual health. The primary goal of our work is the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections in the social area of Halle and southern Saxony-Anhalt (primary prevention). To this end, we inform and support the population groups most frequently affected by HIV/AIDS as well as all other interested persons, institutions or government agencies through our low-threshold and lifestyle-accepting education, counseling and testing services. In addition, we support HIV-positive people and their relatives in coping with the health and social consequences of HIV infection (secondary and tertiary prevention). Aidshilfe provides advice on all the questions and problems that arise in connection with a positive HIV diagnosis. As a socio-political advocacy group, we also want to inform the public about HIV in an unbiased and factual manner and thus improve the social situation of those affected and achieve greater acceptance for HIV-positive people. Politically, we fight for a society in which people can be, love and live differently without fear.
