The association was founded on October 28, 2006 by Wolfgang Klabunde, (Rudi Duschek), Paul Kroll, Prof. Dr. Peter Felfe (+), Peter Kroll, Dr. Renate Hilbert, Uwe Durak and Klaus Mendrowski (in this order).

Aims of the association:

1. To make valuable books and sound recordings from private collections and estates accessible to the interested public in order to protect these cultural assets from destruction or premature disposal.

2. To view, organize and catalog these collections and make them available for loan or to pass them on to interested parties in return for a donation or a small contribution towards expenses.

The work of the association is carried out entirely on a voluntary basis and without remuneration.

The members of the association see their commitment as a personal contribution to the cultural enrichment of the city of Greifswald. From the preparation of the book collections to the work with readers and interested parties to the operation of a library and meeting place, everything is carried out by the association itself.
