Concert and party club in the trendy district of Hanover-Linden

The CAPITOL high-rise was built in the 1920s and is now a well-known trademark of the city of Hanover. The listed brick high-rise building is visible from afar on the Ihme, right in the heart of Hanover.

CAPITOL operator Michael Lohmann and Wolfgang Besemer († 2014) had the idea of setting up a multifunctional event location in Hanover in 1985. The ideal premises to realize this concept were soon found in the former Filmtheater am Schwarzen Bär 2.

After renovations, the CAPITOL opened on September 20, 1986 and became a popular venue for live music, cinema and parties.

Since then, national live greats such as Westernhagen, Rammstein and Die Ärzte as well as international artists such as Joan Baez, The Kinks, Ramones, Motörhead, Radiohead, Billy Talent, Gary Moore, Morrissey, Simple Minds and Robbie Williams have been among the many top stars who have given CAPITOL unforgettable concert evenings and helped it gain its outstanding reputation as a live club and international renown.

In addition to the concerts, it is the party and disco evenings, theater and comedy events, readings and corporate events that make up the CAPITOL program in all its diversity. The CAPITOL offers space for events with 400 to 1600 guests and impresses with its unique charm and intimate atmosphere.
