The historic cinema has been a listed building since 1980 and was opened in 1955. Up to 288 moviegoers can enjoy a 100 m² screen in the Eulenspiegel. In addition to the latest digital technology, the movie theater also has classic 35mm and 70mm projection for true monumental cinema.

Info and history

The Eulenspiegel Filmtheater was opened in 1955 and has been one of Essen's art house cinemas since 1980. The building and the lovingly maintained 1950s interior are now listed buildings. Despite being more than 60 years old, the Eulenspiegel is technically up to date: the latest digital technology ensures a real monumental cinema on the 100 m² screen. In addition to the daily program, this cinema also hosts exclusive previews, children's cinema, silent films with live music and various special series. The Eulenspiegel also has a popular café and a small cinema museum.

Monday is cinema day with reduced admission for everyone and every third Monday of the month there is a sneak preview where the movie is a secret - until the curtain rises
