The Scheibenholz racecourse is an area monument and one of the most traditional racecourses in Germany. It is the oldest still active sports facility in Saxony. Since 1867, the racecourse has been a place that brings people together, inspires and fascinates them. The imposing grandstand building, built in 1907 according to the plans of Leipzig architect Otto Paul Burghardt, is the heart of the racecourse and, with its two striking towers, still dominates the cityscape in the south of Leipzig today. Every year, over 150,000 visitors from Leipzig, the region and far beyond flock to the race days and other events at Leipzig Scheibenholz.
