Historical overview

Schloss Erbhof Thedinghausen is an old Weser Renaissance manor house dating back to 1620, which is one of the outstanding sights in the district of Verden.

The Erbhof was first mentioned in a document from 1246. At that time, a knight named Arnold Corlehake had his seat there. A successor to this Corlehake became a burgomaster at the first Thedinghausen castle, which was founded around 1285 by Bremen Archbishop Giselbert.

Around 1600, Heinrich Corlehake Hermeling was the owner of the hereditary farm. He was married to the daughter of the Brunswick-Lüneburg councillor Jürgen von Heimbruch from Varste. Her name was Gertrud von Heimbruch - and it was she who later initiated the construction of the magnificent Erbhof building.
