In the location's words:

Since 2012, the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum has been running an urban gardening project together with citizens from Ludwigshafen's diverse urban society on the once deserted Hans-Klüber-Platz behind the museum.

By growing useful and ornamental plants in specially built boxes or recycled containers, a sealed area was reclaimed and the diversity of nature was brought right into the center of Ludwigshafen. Anyone who would like to join in the gardening can sponsor a bed free of charge. In addition to individuals, families, groups from day-care centers, schools and social institutions as well as clubs are also taking part. It is therefore not surprising that the biodiversity of the cultivated plants is just as heterogeneous as the garden community itself: The bed of a Turkish family is right next to the Bible garden of the Protestant city church, while the Thai spinach of a Chinese fellow gardener thrives opposite.

By gardening together, the hackmuseumsgARTen has grown into a place of exchange and encounter. It brings people from different backgrounds together around the universal theme of gardening. From April to October, a varied program of events, from intercultural festivals to concerts and art workshops, takes place every year. Come and visit us!

Every first and third Thursday of the month we come together at 6 p.m. at the "Gartentreff" - a platform for all those who already garden or would like to become part of the gardening community.

The hack-museumsgARTen is accompanied and supported by the foundation anstiftung & ertomis, BASF SE, GAG Ludwigshafen and numerous sponsors.
