Hohendeicher See

Hohendeicher See, also known as Oortkatensee, is one of the city's most popular lakes and a true paradise for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. The two bathing areas are located on the western (small sandy beach and sunbathing area) and southern shores (large sandy beach and sunbathing area) of the lake, with the western side being popular with surfers.

There are no lifeguards, but there are toilets (including barrier-free ones!), a kiosk and even diving courses are offered.

How to get there

Hohendeicher See is located in the south-east of Hamburg, in the Kirchwerder district. By public transport, take the S21 to the Tiefstack stop or bus 120 (direction Zeltplatz Altengamme) to the Overwerder stop, from where it is just a stone's throw to the lake. Parking spaces are available near the lake, so getting there by car is also easy.
