The Kammertheater is a joint venue of the Schauspiel Stuttgart and the Stuttgart Ballet. The building is part of the New State Gallery built by architect James Stirling (1926-1992) and was opened on September 25, 1983. Stirling was one of the most important British architects of the 20th century. The State Gallery is considered a masterpiece of the so-called eclectic postmodernism; Stirling incorporated numerous regional and national historical quotations in the building.
