The Künstlerinnenforum Bielefeld-OWL e.V. is the largest regional and interdisciplinary network of women in the arts and cultural professions in NRW with almost 150 members - artists from all disciplines as well as academics, exhibition organizers and art educators, including many from non-German countries of origin.

In addition to its own events, such as exhibitions, readings, forums, collaborations, training courses, curated and non-curated exhibitions, it also offers a regular get-together on the 1st Friday of the month. Within the association, there is the opportunity to join together in various working groups, including interdisciplinary ones. Many activities are guided by an understanding of art as a social and cultural practice and by a conceptual or interventionist concept of art. The Künstlerinnenforum was initiated as a regional network "frauenkunstforum-owl. e.V." by a joint initiative of women artists, equal opportunities offices from OWL and women at Bielefeld University and was founded on May 10, 2000 by over 100 women - artists of all disciplines, women in cultural professions from Bielefeld and the whole of Ostwestfalen-Lippe. It has been recognized as a non-profit association since 2002. Over the past 13 years, the association has developed into an important cultural initiative in the region through its projects and activities, its project ideas, innovations and specialist involvement, most recently in the Bielefeld Cultural Development Plan, as well as in various collaborations, joint events by KF, BBK and open studios such as the "Bielefeld Art Talks". Since 2011, there has been an internal newsletter to inform members about exhibition dates, training and further education, funding programs, scholarships and much more.

Since 2012, the association has maintained an office at Stapenhorststr. 73 in Bielefeld. The Bielefeld-OWL Women Artists' Archive is located in the Bielefeld City Library. It is accessible during opening hours.
