Whether it's a classic, film festival winner or documentary - when you take a seat in the comfortable armchairs and the lights go out in the auditorium, a shared experience begins, somewhere between fiction and reality. Every Tuesday and Friday, Kino im U opens its doors for its in-house cinema series and invites you to ring in the end of the working day or the weekend together.

Kino im Dortmunder U regularly presents a curated film program that complements and comments on the diverse range of films offered by its partners, often followed by discussions and curator talks. The Kino im U is also used for regular events with municipal partners, such as the City of Dortmund's Equal Opportunities Office for the "Kino Weltsichten" program.

Collaborations with Dortmund associations and institutions open up the cinema to the city's society and regular guest film festivals (including the Turkish Film Festival Dortmund, Italian Film Festival Munich, DOXS RUHR) provide insights into global filmmaking.
