The Kulturhaus Dock 4 was opened in 1990 on the premises of the former Gerhart Hauptmann School and has since served as a versatile production, exhibition and performance venue for Kassel's independent cultural scene. Renowned groups from Kassel create a varied and high-quality program in the fields of theater, dance and music, with a special focus on children's and family events.

With the studio stage on Deck 1, the intermediate deck and the hall, the Kulturhaus Dock 4 offers flexible performance options for different event formats and audience numbers.

A special summer highlight is the annual open-air cinema in the courtyard of the Kulturhaus, which is organized by Filmladen Kassel and shows a sophisticated film programme over a period of ten weeks.
