At the Faust Cultural Center, people, associations and groups work on the basis of practical solidarity and shared responsibility for the whole. Our basic attitude is characterized by openness and appreciation for alternative, emancipatory, individual and constructive ways of life.

As a socio-cultural center in the heart of the city, the Faust Cultural Center is much more than just a place for events. A wide variety of people, initiatives, associations and tradespeople are active on the Faust site, independently and cooperatively, with and alongside each other. For many of them, Faust is the center of their lives; for some, it has become the basis of their livelihood. The content and forms of work as well as the common understanding of the overall context continue to develop in the context of the original ideas of the initiative for "factory repurposing in the district".

It is important to us to open up space and opportunities for new ways of working and living and to actively engage with social issues. The aim is also to be a good place for people who can hardly develop their own perspectives elsewhere or who are at odds with social requirements. In particular, artists from a wide range of disciplines and cultural associations with diverse cultural and migrant backgrounds have found and continue to find their place on the site, as well as organizations in the field of new media and environmental education.

Over 30 associations and organizations use the space and facilities of the Faust Cultural Centre to organize themselves and develop their own independent and, above all, voluntary work. In addition to activities, events and offers in the fields of art and culture, advisory, educational and qualification offers as well as employment projects are important focal points of the work on our premises.

Faust is growing because, over time, supporters have become customers, user groups have become tenants and committed people have become full-time employees. The economic framework conditions are forcing a process that promotes professionalism and effectiveness in the association context, but in which economic considerations sometimes have to take precedence over content-related considerations. The Kulturzentrum Faust is facing up to this development and these challenges and today works according to a concept that understands parts of the original basic understanding as current components of its concept and at the same time builds a bridge to today's requirements and ideas.

Guiding principles

• Faust began as an initiative for factory conversion and district culture in Hanover-Linden and operates the resulting cultural center as a non-profit association.
• Today, Faust is the central location in Linden. People of different generations and cultures meet here.
• The basic attitude at Faust is characterized by openness and appreciation for alternative, emancipatory, individual and constructive ways of life.
• Faust stands firmly against ableism, anti-Semitism, fascism, classism, nationalism, queer hostility, racism, sexism and all forms of discrimination and misanthropy. * Our aim is to reflect the diversity of society on our stages. To come closer to this goal, we strive to realize the representation of FLINTA* people in our shows.
