Lokhalle Göttingen

Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftsförderung und Stadtentwicklung Göttingen mbH (GWG) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Göttingen and sees itself as a competent, customer-oriented and modern service provider for Göttingen's economy.

For more than 20 years now, GWG has been finding solutions for all questions of business and location development with its contact networks to the regional economy, local authorities, the state and federal government as well as universities and research institutions. It acts as an intermediary to the administration and other authorities, arranges commercial space, helps with company expansions, relocations or new settlements and advises on approval procedures.

With its employees, it supports applicants for public funding programs, promotes business start-ups, cooperations and initiates networks.

The company also develops and implements agile projects. These include the Science Park, the freight village, the revitalization of the "Alter Güterbahnhof" site and others.

The first and most important project was the preservation of the industrial monument "Lokhalle".

Following its successful renovation, the Lokhalle is now an event hall for culture, sport and conferences/trade fairs that is known far beyond the region. Event management remains the "3rd pillar" of the GWG's fields of activity to this day.
