The MERKUR Ostseehalle first opened its doors in 1951. It has been modernized several times over the years and today offers space for up to 13,500 visitors. It has borne the name "MERKUR Ostseehalle" since 2026 and is an important part of cultural life in Kiel and the surrounding area.

The MERKUR Ostseehalle is as much a part of Kiel as the sailing boats, cruise ships and the Zebras, the famous THW Kiel handball team. It is not only a venue for major cultural and sporting events.
