The Palmenhaus in Vienna is one of the most beautiful coffee houses in the city, but it is more than that. Housed in a spectacular Art Nouveau glass house dating from 1901, directly in the Burggarten in the 1st district, it combines architecture, atmosphere and enjoyment in a way that is unparalleled in Vienna.

The building alone is an experience. The filigree steel construction, the huge glass fronts and the warm light that falls through the panes create an atmosphere that is somewhere between a winter garden, a greenhouse and a large Viennese coffee house. A little surreal at any time of year, especially in winter.

During the day, the Palmenhaus is a café-restaurant with a cuisine to be proud of: Austrian classics, seasonal dishes, breakfast and brunch at the weekend. Its location right next to the Mozart statue and the Mozart monument in the Burggarten also makes it an obvious stop for tourists, without being a tourist trap.

In the evenings, the Palmenhaus regularly transforms into a bar-style venue. DJ evenings, special events and a well-stocked bar turn the coffee house into something completely different. The mixture of historical ambience and relaxed evening program attracts a colorful, good-humored audience.

In the middle of the first district, right next to the Burggarten, and yet not a bit stiff. The Palmenhaus is Vienna as it should be.
