What we do

The Projektbüro Kultur conceives and realizes art and music festivals in public spaces, develops surprising cultural formats, creates new spaces and initiates encounters with contemporary art forms.
The events organized by Projektbüro Kultur stand for artistic quality and are open to all. With up to 650,000 guests per year, they are part of the cultural DNA of the city of Nuremberg and are internationally recognized for their uniqueness. The aim of the Project Office for Culture is to anchor culture in the heart of 21st century urban society in a sustainable and long-term way with the projects it conceives and realizes and to represent art and design as an active and pleasurable principle in the interdisciplinary interaction of regional, national and international players.
The Culture Project Office is a staff unit within the 2nd Mayor's Culture Division. A permanent team of ten experts from the fields of art and culture, management and administration, headed by Dr. Elisabeth Hartung, works in offices on the roof of the City Hall on the Hauptmarkt in Nuremberg to ensure that the special features of Nuremberg's events are preserved and that new ideas are given space. Supported during the festival season and with new projects by hundreds of freelancers, interns and helpers and in close cooperation with all departments and security authorities of the City of Nuremberg, the project office ensures that the events are of high quality, attractive and safe.
The project office's portfolio also includes the financing and acquisition of third-party funds, donations and sponsorship. The project office forms alliances with the regional economy and develops new models of financing such as digital donations so that culture for all can continue to be made possible by many in solidarity, even with small contributions.
