At schauraum: comic + cartoon, everything revolves around the "ninth art": we show original comics and cartoons and convey graphic storytelling in words and images.

In exhibitions, lectures, readings, comic debates, guided tours and workshops, the medium of comics and cartoons is played and shown - always with the aim of increasing the recognition and awareness of comics as an independent art form through exhibitions and programs.

One of the most widely used forms of communication today is the simultaneous reception of image and text information: Comics laid a foundation stone here at the end of the 19th century.

The schauraum: comic + cartoon is a project of the Dortmunder Kulturbetriebe in close cooperation with uzwei im Dortmunder U (program) and the Stadt- und Landesbibliothek (library and editorial office).
