Sigmund Freud Museum

The Sigmund Freud Museum is located at Berggasse 19 in Vienna's 9th district - the address where Sigmund Freud lived and worked for 47 years before fleeing into exile in London in 1938. This makes it one of the most important places of remembrance for the founder of psychoanalysis.

The museum includes Freud's former practice as well as parts of his private living quarters. The life of the Freud family is reconstructed on the basis of historical photographs, and the original rooms are the focus of the museum visit. The apartment is well preserved and is complemented by a rich collection of objects and pictures.

Attached to the museum is also the largest psychoanalytical research library in Europe with around 35,000 volumes, as well as the Sigmund Freud Foundation Research Institute.
