Stadtkino Wien is an institution. For decades, it has been one of the top addresses for anyone who takes cinema seriously and has truly earned its reputation as one of the best arthouse cinemas in the German-speaking world.

Since 2013, the Stadtkino has been located in the Künstlerhaus on Karlsplatz in the 4th district, one of the most beautiful cultural buildings in the city. The auditorium is large, the screen even more so, and the atmosphere has just the right mix of grandeur and coziness.

The program is the heart of the place. Arthouse films, international festival discoveries, retrospectives and revivals of classics that deserve to be seen on the big screen. Stadtkino has a feel for which films are important before everyone else does. Those who come here regularly are usually a few steps ahead of the mainstream.

In addition, there is a real movie theater, not a converted conference room, no rows of seats at the same level. Cinema as it should be. Original versions with subtitles are the standard here, not the exception.

The Stadtkino is easily accessible on Karlsplatz, right next to the U1, U2 and U4 lines. If you love cinematic art and haven't been here yet, you should change that quickly.
