The Stadtmuseum Halle is a cultural educational institution of the city of Halle (Saale). The museum's headquarters are the ensemble of buildings at Große Märkerstraße 10 with the Christian-Wolff-Haus (building section A), the so-called gallery extension (building section B) as an intermediate building and the so-called print shop (building section C). Branches of the Halle City Museum are the Oberburg Giebichenstein, the Red Tower, the Hausmann Towers and the Leipzig Tower. The Halle City Museum maintains its depot in the former Schützenhaus Glaucha.

The headquarters in the immediate vicinity of the market square has a long tradition as a place of science, cultural education and communication with occasionally supra-regional significance. The Christian Wolff House serves as a cultural memorial to its most famous resident and thus also to the early German Enlightenment: Christian Wolff, a nationally and internationally renowned philosopher of the Enlightenment and university professor at the time, lived, researched and taught here between 1741 and 1754. The previous and subsequent owners of the house were also professors and members of the university.
