The city museum, often called "Göhre" in Jena, is located in a late Gothic building on the north side of the market square. The name goes back to Paul Göhre, who bought the house in 1883 and ran a wine shop and a wine restaurant here. Since 1988, exhibitions on the history of Jena have been held in the old part of the "Göhre". With its valuable holdings on regional history, it is a place for the city's society to engage with itself, enriching this discourse with historical aspects in particular.
