For some an insider tip, for others long one of the most interesting addresses in Altona: Behind tenement buildings in the former industrial courtyard, progressive, powerful theater takes place every evening on three stages.

During the day, actors & actresses, directors, set designers, costume designers, dramaturgs and musicians develop new productions for the Großes Haus am Alstertor and the Thalia in Gaußstraße. There you will not only experience great drama, but also concerts with Altona artists, readings, TanzTee, symposia with the University of Hamburg, youth workshops or "FrühStücke" with international directors and German rolls. Get close and stay longer: you sit only a few meters away from the ensemble, and the ambience of the ballroom invites you to linger and exchange with audience and ensemble while enjoying drinks and snacks.

Since November 2015, the "Embassy of Hope - Café International" has also been at home here, where refugees learn German with theater people and the Altona neighborhood, make music and forge new friendships.
