theater hof/19 is an independent theater with its own venue and is run by Frauke Allwardt (direction, dramaturgy, organization, graphics, PR) and Dieter Hinrichs (acting, direction, organization, lighting, music). Depending on the production, they work with different actors, directors, authors and other artistic and technical collaborators. The "freie ensemble theater hof/19" has thus established itself from this network since the theater was founded. We are currently also dealing with the generational change/change of management at the theater.
In September 2001, theater hof/19 opened its venue in Bahnhofstraße. An old factory building in the center of the city was transformed into a modern theater that is captivating in its functionality and simplicity. In summer 2007, the foyer was extended, a green roof was created, the stage technology was significantly increased and a ventilation system was installed on the roof to provide fresh air during performances.
In 2022, theater hof/19 carried out a certified carbon footprint assessment with professional managers and has been actively involved in the SUSTAINABLE THEATER / GREEN CULTURE transformation process ever since.
100 seats guarantee the atmosphere of dense, intense, often socio-politically relevant theater experiences for adults, young people and children that audiences appreciate so much. Live music plays an important role in almost all productions. Since 2022, we have been working with professional dancers to expand our independent dance theater division. Selected guest performances are also shown each season.
