A place supported and shaped by many.

Founded in 1987 as an independent theater group, Theater Strahl has established itself over the past 35 years as one of the pioneering stages for contemporary and sophisticated theater for young audiences. Theater Strahl has been performing on two permanent stages in Berlin Schöneberg since the late 1990s and in a former double-decker gymnasium at Ostkreuz since 2013. In the 2022/23 season, it will move into its own venue for the first time in over 30 years: the former double-decker gymnasium will become a theater for young people with two venues! Theater Strahl gives guest performances throughout Germany and internationally, accepts invitations to children's and youth theater festivals and is regularly nominated for and awarded theater prizes.

After meticulous research, Theater Strahl develops plays for people aged 12 and over that deal with the perspectives, fears, wishes and abilities of young people and place them in their social context. This creates access to the world of theater for first-timers. Young people are involved in the creation and development of the play. This allows young people's perspectives and themes to find resonance on stage in a variety of aesthetic forms. Theater Strahl gives space to these forms and ideas, experiments with media, music and masks, combines theater, dance and performance and does not shy away from the classics or the classroom.

An important facet of Theater Strahl's work is its educational theater offerings. From workshops accompanying plays and school collaborations to theater youth clubs and intergenerational theater projects, creative spaces are created for the audience.

Theater Strahl's goal for the future is to blur the boundaries between art and education, between theater for adults and theater for young audiences, and to create theater for young people between the ages of 12 and 120!
