An oasis for recreation and relaxation, a place to meet people and a meeting place that invites people to help others.

As early as 1929, the Catholic parish purchased the approximately 45-acre site for 9,951.75 Reichsmark. In the same year, it was granted permission to serve "beer and non-spiritual drinks" there.

The purpose of the home garden was "to enable the members of the community, especially the impecunious widows and fellow citizens who were not fortunate enough to have a garden, to spend Sundays in the good air and sunshine", according to a quote from the application for exemption from taxation submitted to the tax office on February 26, 1938.

A lot has changed in society since then. However, the need for relaxation in a peaceful natural environment is still felt by everyone, perhaps today more than ever.

Traditionally, volunteer members of the church community, organized in several groups, run the home garden between April and October. We still offer our visitors coffee and cake, grilled sausages and steaks with bread and salad, ice cream and sweets as well as various drinks at reasonable prices.

During the summer vacations, we make the Heimgarten available to the local city recreation program, which offers children from the surrounding area childcare and meals from Monday to Saturday.
