YAAM is a special place that can't be described, that you have to experience, a place like no other in this country. YAAM is many things Every day, people come to YAAM who couldn't be more different, as if a New York subway had just stopped on the banks of the Spree and all the passengers had agreed to spend a few hours together. To make friends, to talk, to dance, to listen to music, to eat well, to do sports, to spend time. YAAM is the mixture of urban sports like streetball, footbag, soccer, skateboarding and climbing; black music in almost every style, whether DJs, sound systems or live bands; African, Caribbean, Brazilian or simply delicious food stalls; graffiti, art, all means of expression of urban culture; and those who are still too young for all that, romp in the Kidzcorner. YAAM is an attitude towards life There is no more multicultural place in Berlin. YAAM brings people together: From the Caribbean and Africa, from Brazil and Egypt - and also the hip scene-goer from Mitte and the Turkish kids from Kreuzberg. And it's probably only at YAAM that no one is surprised when parents with their children feel just as comfortable as pubescent teenagers. Respect is the highest principle at the YAAM - and everyone, even problematic young people, abides by it. The YAAM future ? Future was always just a word without much meaning in the Yaam. The Yaam lived in the present, because there was no longer than three months perspective, that was the maximum period of notice of the lease. For 20 years, Yaam shimmied from one temporary use to the next. There were better and worse times. In this respect, 2014 marks a turning point: For the first time, with the support of politics, it has been possible to obtain a longer-term perspective. The goal now, therefore, is to create the best Yaam ever at Schillingbrücke, a club that is much more than just a club.
