From 2024 to 2027, the film festival AFRIKAMERA - CURRENT CINEMA FROM AFRICA will focus on diverse, inspiring, groundbreaking and sometimes contradictory perspectives on central social and political issues of the present and future of the African continent with the four focal points BELIEVE * CHANGE * REFLECT and CREATE .

In addition to current productions, the CHANGE edition focuses on films that address common gender roles and their structural and social effects, question existing power relations and established norms and work to bring about social change through the medium of cinema. The focus is on films by female/female-read directors.

This year is also characterized by a diverse selection of films - feature films, documentaries and short films, as well as talks and Q&As with the directors and a concert by the famous Afrotronix.

As always, there will also be film highlights to discover that have premiered and won awards at major international festivals - this year with a special focus on current films from Nigeria.

As part of the anniversary program for "25 years of city partnership between Windhoek and Berlin", AFRIKAMERA is presenting a comprehensive program entitled SPOTLIGHT ON WINDHOEK ( 19.11.) at Sinema Transtopia as a follow-up to the CHANGE edition.

AFRIKAMERA 2025

From 2024 to 2027, the AFRIKAMERA film festival - CURRENT CINEMA FROM AFRICA will focus on diverse, inspiring, groundbreaking and sometimes contradictory perspectives on key social and political issues affecting the present and future of the African continent, with four main themes: BELIEVE * CHANGE * REFLECT and CREATE.

In addition to current productions, the CHANGE edition will focus on films that address common gender roles and their structural and social implications, question existing power relations and established norms, and use the medium of cinema to bring about social change. The focus will be on films by female/female-identified directors.

We offer a selection of shortfilms, movies and documentaries. There will be talks and Q&As with some of the filmmakers and a cocert of the famouse Afrotronix.

As usual, there are also film highlights to discover that premiered and won awards at major international festivals - this year with a special focus on current films from Nigeria.
