The Königswinter Accordion Orchestra was founded in 1957 and currently consists of 12 active members under the direction of Stefan Dörrenbächer. The focus of our work is the exploration of works from various eras and styles. An integral part of this is the development of new original literature for accordion orchestra. Compositions by Ambrosius, Harries, Linke, Schwarzien, Seiber and others have been on the concert programs in recent years.

The accordion offers a wide range of musical possibilities, whether in folk music, as the melancholy instrument of the tango, in jazz, or in concertante and contemporary music, the accordion can unfold its tonal virtuosity everywhere. This diversity spurs us on as an orchestra to keep trying out new things. We would be delighted to welcome anyone who would like to take on this challenge as a player.
