AFR Annual Program 2026:

The Architektur Forum Rheinland was founded in mid-1996 –
with the aim of bringing together partner institutions in the field of architectural culture in Cologne and beyond, and of fostering public awareness of the history, present, and future of planning and building in the Rhineland. Its goals were to preserve and communicate the culture of architecture and planning in the Rhineland through the collection and curation of estates and bequests, publications, exhibitions, and events on the history and continuity of the built environment.
In addition to publications and exhibitions, the association’s annual thematic programs have been and remain the most important part of its public outreach efforts, providing interested members of the urban community with opportunities to learn about and discuss the history, present, and future of architectural culture in the Rhineland. To date, the AFR has pursued its motto through 23 annual programs featuring approximately 230 public and free events:

In 2026, we will look back at these annual programs and, based on individual themes from them, examine what has changed since then in planning, building, and design in the Rhineland.
